Going back through some of my oldest posts about costumes I want to do and I found some hilarious ideas and notes and thoughts. I am going to comment on some of these.
Here’s some costume ideas I wrote down back in 1998… I underlined the parts I find funny.
Costume Idea #1. Chun-Li. So it’s been done to death. But I’VE never done it. And it would be fun 😀 Only problem is… the costume!! I suppose I could have it made… maybe my gramma could help me do it… and by next year my hair will be grown out enough that I can put it up. This would be fun~ it’s my #1 choice for next year.

It took me a few years but I did this in 2003.
Costume Idea #2. Lina Inverse. This one would be REALLY hard… but if I started working on it early enough, maybe I could do it! Only thing is, I’d have to dye my hair, and I really HATE doing that… but going as Lina would be REALLY fun! 😀 Don’t you think?

I finally did this in 2002. With a wig.
Costume Idea #3. Ling Xiaoyu. From Tekken, of course. Same problem here… hard to do outfit. This one is maybe a little easier than the others. And NOT her pink outfit!! Her blue one. Her blue one is cute. Her pink one is blegh. Problem… by next Halloween my hair will be too long to do this… it’s the right length now. Oh well! Let’s continue.
I finally did this one in 2002 also. With my real hair. I guess I was still stuck on that idea.
Then again there weren’t many up-do wigs to work with back then.
Costume Idea #4. Tifa Lockheart. FF7… except I wouldn’t wear a skirt, I’d wear shorts >P And that would be a cold outfit. I’d freeze to death! So this is a no go. UNLESS… hmmm… MAYBE I could find the stuff I’d need for this costume at the mall today, and I could go as Tifa THIS year! Hmmm…
I actually did try to find stuff at the mall. I used to do that all the time, just dig through clothes at the mall, “what costume could I use this for?” Because it was the 90s and there was nothing else to do. It rarely worked out, in terms of costumes. I mostly came home with stuff from the toy store or EB Games.
Never did do a Tifa costume.
Costume Ideas #5. Yuffie or Elena. Problem with Yuffie — all those accessories. REALLY hard to do. Elena would be boring~ just a suit! And I went as an MiB last year, and Groucho Marx the year before, so I’d be wearing pretty much the same suit as the last two years. >P
Alll those accessssoooooories AKA your favourite thing to do making a costume? Hahaha.
I never did Elena but I did finally do Yuffie in 2003.
Costume Idea #6. Girl Type Ranma. This one wouldn’t be all that hard… but it wouldn’t be very much fun.
“Wouldn’t be much fun…” It probably could’ve been, if I’d actually worn it anywhere. I took one photo of it in 2001 and sold the costume.
Costume Idea #7. Mai Shiranui. KIDDING!! No thanks.
Apparently Mai was too skimpy for me. But I was totally ok with Slave Leia a few years later.
Costume Idea #8. Blue Mary. This would be fun, too! Another problem, tho.. my hair is the right length NOW… bleh… stupid hair… I HATE wigs, by the way, I won’t wear them… so my costumes have to depend on my hair length at the time.

And you now have like, 100 wigs so ok.
Some suggestions people gave me from early 2001:
Zelda… I’m not familiar enough with Zelda to do her… nor would I want to do a dress (she does wear a dress right?) I don’t like the whole princess thing…

TMNT… ha, I think I did that once when I was like, 8…
I went to see TMNT Live and they were selling the eye masks but they only had blue. And I hated Leonardo but I got one anyway. That’s the closest I ever got.
I did do April O’Neil in 2006 tho.
HP characters – I’m wearing these to an anime convention, so HP doesn’t really apply! And Hermione… I don’t want to pretend to be her!

Another list from 2001:
Edea. I’m most likely going to do this for midsouthcon in march. I’ve always wanted to go as her, and I do NOT want to try to transport her big metal shoulder thing to an out of town con, so midsouthcon would have to be it…
I kept trying to do Edea for some local con but it never worked out. Like literally I had this slated for at least 4 different cons 🙁 Still think about it sometimes.
Leia (hoth version). Hey, it’ll be march if I do this. For MidSouthCon, I wanted a scifi costume (since that’s what the con IS, a scifi con!!), and I thought of doing this one, maybe with cath reprising her regular leia, LOL XD
Took a few years but I got to it. This is the oldest note I can find about doing a Leia costume.
And at some point I learned I can wear whatever I want where-ever I want. There are no lines in the sand.
Sailor senshi: I don’t particularly want to do another sailor senshi 😛
Then why is it on your list?
Faye. I’ve always wanted to go as faye but I don’t think it’ll ever happen ;_;
OMG I came so close to doing this. I found one on ebay and my aunt agreed to buy it for me and got sniped at the last second and lost it.
And my mom had a conniption when she saw a pic of the costume anyway and said NO. Hahaha.
Girl Vash (max version). Almost a definite for midsouthcon 😀
I guess “almost” was the key word here.
Rikku. I was trying to get Cath & Ash to do an FF10 group for Animazement next year, but thus far it looks like Cath won’t get to go, and Ash refuses to be Rikku. I like Rikku so far, but I’d probably end up being Lulu ;_;
I love how the one I didn’t want to do is the one I ended up doing.
Hermione: It’ll NEVER happen! I’d never be able to get my poor hair all poofy like hers. Maybe I’ll go as me in Hogwarts robes/normal clothes to the movie premiere…
